On April 10th, the ChE GSA welcomed Dr. Geoff Wise from Procter & Gamble (P&G) for the inaugural student-invited speaker seminar. Geoff Wise received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from UC-Berkeley in 1999, under the tutelage of Morton Denn in the area of polymer processing. Since then, he has worked in Process Development of various business categories at P&G in Cincinnati, OH. In his seminar, Geoff shared the diverse career paths of some PhDs at P&G, his transition to a career in industry, and some engineering challenges he has faced in his career. Geoff’s visit also featured opportunities for research and professional discussions at breakfast hour and in small-group discussions.
This event was planned and executed by the ChE GSA Professional Development committee as a way to bring a student-selected speaker from industry to campus. Moving forward, the ChE GSA plans to have this seminar as an annual event. If you have any comments or suggestions for the next student-invited speaker seminar, please contact the ChE GSA.
